I have quickly realised that developing a blog is going to take time and patience….lots of it! I realise, after all, that Rome was not built in a day.
My excitement at developing this blog came about when I realised that I would be evangelising using ‘new media‘ and that 1catholicsalmon too, would be part of the New Evangelisation of the Church.
So , what is the ‘New Evangelisation’ being talked about in Catholic circles? Here is one example (that I know of ) that’s just recently been launched:
Following Bishop Michael Campbell’s New Year Pastoral Letter on the New Evangelisation and parishes and schools the Diocese of Lancaster has unveiled its first New Evangelisation initiative in anticipation of the Year of Faith, the Light is on for You project, a diocesan-wide and high-profile celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The press release from the Bishop’s Office states:
‘The Bishop of Lancaster,Rt Rev Michael Campbell OSA has already followed on from his New Year’s Day Pastoral Letter and announced in a letter to his priests and Catholic schools the launch of an important initiative this Lent for the Diocese of Lancaster called The Light Is On For You –a diocesan-wide and high-profile celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Read about it here:-http://www.lancasterdiocese.org.uk/Group/Group.aspx?ID=187686
You may still be saying to yourself, ‘Well, what is this New Evangelisation?’ Put simply, it’s all about the Church encouraging bishops, priests and religious communities to make use of the various available computer technologies in order to spread The Word/share The Faith/rekindle the love of God, His Word and Sacraments. In other words to use the internet to reach out to the world.
I realise that there is a lot more to the ‘New Evangelisation’ but I hope this post has got your juices flowing too! Very exciting.

/ January 10, 2012Good stuff! I agree that blogging takes persistence and patience – much like my faith requires persistence and patience.
This is a pretty neat site but a WP blogger that I found useful: http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/
