Given the media attention attached to Pope Francis’s remarks regarding homosexuality on the papal plane last night, in the course of a wide-ranging interview with journalists lasting 1 hour and 22 minutes (see John Allen and CNS; also this 6 mins video edit), what follows is the transcript of the remarks in English and in the Italian original, followed by the relevant excerpt from the Catechism referred to by Pope Francis.  (We will publish the transcript of the whole interview when it becomes available).

  1. Sometimes I think the news media twists things deliberately, but more often I suspect they are just ignorant. Seems to be part of the human condition.
