Pope Francis , just as Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, has taken up the soul inspiring challenge of St John Paul II who first called for a ‘New Evangelisation’ in his encyclical Redemtoris Missio nearly 24 years ago.
Pope Francis’ encyclical ‘The Joy of the Gospel’ (Evangelii Gaudium) is the long-awaited teaching of Pope Francis on the proclamation of the Gospel. Pope Francis is calling upon the Church and the world with encouragement to begin a new chapter in evangelization. This dynamic document is written in the plain, everyday language for which the Pope has become famous.
At our parish Fr Robert Barron’s ‘Catholicism: the New Evangelisation’ is being shared with all parishioners who want to put their faith into action. This documentary and study programme, with the acclaimed Fr Robert Barron, focuses on the cultural obstacles which the Church faces today and sends us on our Mission with confidence and a message of great joy

/ May 28, 2014I hope this program is very successful in rejuvenating the faith and enthusiasm in your parish. Our parish tried Matthew Kelly’s Rediscovering Catholicism, with mixed results. It is hard to get people to change their ways and become more outward with their faith, but it will come, in time.

/ May 28, 2014Last year Fr. Barron’s CATHOLICISM programme was well received . You are right, it is difficult for people to change their ways.
Yesterday I , and 200+ others attended a evangilization conference. It was so inspiring. Lots to do….but it changes have to take place. One at a time. to start somewhere. Our Archbishop gave a brief overview of Pope Francis’ THE JOY OF THE GOSPEL’. Just amazing. We then broke into deanery groups and discussed thought and ideas from this presentation. Much enthusiasm. Such a good feeling.
I’m interested to hear more about any changes or challenges that may have occurred in your deanery/parish. How long ago was the work on the NE started?
