Quiet consideration of the Mother of God and her Son, Jesus.

One perfect gift for Christmas sorted…

This version of ‘Mary did you know’ is so uplifting. I’m definitely buying this one to add to my collection of this song.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you’ve delivered, will soon deliver you.

Mary did you know that your baby boy will make a blind man see?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.

The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the dead will live again.
The lame will leap, the mute will speak, the praises of the lamb.

Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy is heaven’s perfect Lamb?
This sleeping child you’re holding is the great I am.

A special flavour to the month of May.

The month of May is traditionally dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.  The feast of Our Lady of Fatima is celebrated on the 13th and the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is celebrated on the 31st.

I came across this blog that boasts these magnificent vintage Holy /Prayer cards. So for the month of May , I will be posting some of them to feast my eyes on. It ‘ll be a good opportunity too, to use them as a means to meaningful prayer.

Mother most admirable,. Pray for us.

Mother of God, help me to accept the duties set before me as a loving mother and in so doing, emulate your humility and obedience.

I thought that as it’s the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, I’d search for some beautiful images of Our Lady. Uppermost in my mind as I looked for these was Our Lady’s time of waiting.

Calling all gardeners, Catholic or otherwise…2

A new venture for our amazing parish started in the Spring this year. The MARY GARDEN. I was so excited when it was announced. Our Lady’s statue is situated on the side of the church which faces the main road. Although there is place for fresh flowers in front of the shrine, they soon wither and die. So, the thought of garden devoted to Our Lady was most appealing as it will be ongoing and constantly changing.

The cherry on the cake for me is that all the plants in the newly laid garden have been linked with Our Lady. I thought of sharing photos of these here at 1catholicsalmon. Perhaps new Mary Gardens will sprout as a result? Although our garden has only just been created, the flowers are just magnificent, honouring Our Lady as they share their colours.
